A VET surgery is holding an open evening so pupils can find out more about the careers available.

Vets4Pets Portsmouth, in Milton Road, will be giving pupils from Portsmouth High School a chance to experience what it would be like to work as a veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse on June 30 at 7pm.

Practice owner and veterinary surgeon Justyn Loveridge has been part of the school’s careers evening for two years and came up with the idea of the open evening to offer pupils a more in-depth look into the careers available as well as have some fun in the surgery.

There will be a tour of the practice, an insight into how the patients are prepared and anaesthetised and the students will have an opportunity to scrub in.

They can look at X-rays, use the ultrasound machine and bandage the practice’s new dummy dog.

The evening is open to all but is mainly aimed at GCSE and sixth form pupils.
