THEY may look like they’re having a laugh – but these students are delivering hard-hitting messages.
Drama GCSE students at Bridgemary School in Gosport have been creating ‘ironic’ role plays by improvising scenarios based on issues like youth unemployment and voting rights in clown suits.
Richard Carlyle, headteacher, said: ‘The image of clowns to deal with subjects like mass unemployment is a very ironic statement.
‘It’s a great way to engage the audience in a light-hearted and humorous way, but at the same time getting across very serious messages.
‘It’s really powerful stuff and I’m impressed with what I’ve seen from our students.’
