A BBC weatherman is set to return to his old school next week.

Tomasz Schafernaker will visit St John’s College in Southsea on Wednesday to present students with achievement awards at the school’s prize giving and speech night.

Tomasz studied A-level art, physics, maths and IT at St John’s College between 1995 and 1997. He went on to gain a degree in meteorology from the University of Reading and now works for the Met Office and the BBC Weather Centre as a TV and radio weatherman.

Headteacher Graham Best said: ‘We are delighted that Tomasz is able to join us on this very special evening and I know many staff, parents and students are looking forward to meeting him.

‘We are always pleased to welcome Old Johannian’s back to St John’s, especially to our prizegiving event when the success and personal achievements of others inspire and motivate our current students.

‘It will be a wonderful way to end the academic year.’
