A NINE-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl is about to grace one of the most famous stages in the world.
Dancer Jemima Greenhalgh has successfully auditioned for top dance company National Youth Ballet (NYB), and will perform in their 2018 season this year.
Working with professional dancers, choreographers and teachers during a highly-respected two-week residential programme, Jemima will now perform with the company at a gala performance at international dance house Sadler’s Wells, in London, on Sunday, September 2.
Jemima attends Portsmouth Grammar School and began learning to dance aged five, attending the Yasmin Taylor Academy of Dance.
For its 2018 season, the National Youth Ballet will present Bright Young Things, a mixed programme of ballets choreographed by some of the UK’s most eminent professionals and rising talents, performed by a company of young dancers aged 9-18 from across the UK.
Jemima said: ‘I love learning new dances so the audition in London was really fun.
‘I was over the moon when they invited me back to join the company.
‘The Red Balloon is being choreographed as a ballet especially for us, even though the story first appeared in a book many years ago.’
