PUPILS at Portsmouth Academy for Girls were treated to a visit from their French penpals.
During their visit students from both sides of The Channel practised their second language and learnt about each other’s schools.
Vanessa Pszonak, head of modern foreign languages, said: ‘We have been carrying out this exchange trip for six years and it works well because it gives our girls a chance to practise their French.’
While at the school pupils from Collège Saint-Michel - Bourgoin-Jallieu are given a timetable to experience the lessons that are taught at the academy.
Ms Pszonak said: ‘The teachers work really well with the French students and make sure they understand what is being taught.’
The academy is hoping to visit the French school this year.
