Emergency services gather at huge 999 day on Hayling Island

AN ACTION-packed day for all the family is in store as 999 Day returns.

Beachlands, near the funfair on Hayling Island, will host the event on Sunday between 10am and 5pm.

It is the only event of its kind to feature action displays in the air, on land and at sea, from the ambulance service, police, fire service, the RNLI, HM Coastguard and the Hampshire Search and Rescue team.

Other organisations include the Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Hayling Lions Club and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Organiser Richard Coates said: ‘New attractions include the Royal Military Police from Southwick, and subject to operational requirements, an aircraft from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will fly in as part of a Hayling at War action scenario.

‘The whole event is free for the public to attend, and is a unique opportunity for children of all ages.’
