Environment Agency warns of flooding risks around Portsmouth

TWO flood alerts have been issued for the Portsmouth area this afternoon.

The Environment Agency issued a warning at 4pm telling residents in Portsmouth and costal areas from North Harbour to Farlington Marshes there is a risk of flooding.

High water is expected at around 1am on Friday.

The Environment Agency said: ‘Forecast wind direction north westerly forecast wind strength force six water levels will be very high. Flooding may occur along coastal roads and will be very high up slipways.’

Tidal gates at Old Portsmouth will be closed as will part of the coastal road around Southsea Common.
