Waterlooville resident’s prize winning photograph of Night Fox in South Downs National Park competition

WATERLOOVILLE resident Richard Murray has seen his photographic talents recognised in the South Downs National Park’s astrophotography contest.

Richard scooped third place in the Living Dark Skies category for his image of a curious night fox entering his suburban garden.

The first prize went to Anthony Whitbourn who captured a shot of a shore crab at Cuckmere Haven while Luke Chipperfield took the runner-up prize for his photograph which captured an image of his two children looking up at the red planet (Mars) while at River Rother Nature Reserve in Petersfield.

The cosmic themed photography competition received more than 150 entries which also included the South Downs Dark Skyscapes and Our Magnificent Moon categories.

Winners were selected by a panel of judges including National Park dark skies Ranger Dan Oakley, Graham Bryant, a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, and Petersfield-based Tiffany Francis-Baker, author of Dark Skies.
