MISSING sporting equipment has been returned to its owner.

Portchester Community Association lost its box of petanque equipment last Friday when it fell out the back of a van.

But all the equipment was handed into Waterlooville Police Station, much to the relief of the association.

Mik Norman, who was driving the van when the equipment went missing, said: ‘It was fantastic news when we knew the box was found.

‘It means we can continue with our sports sessions at Wallington and in Portchester and with our demonstrations.

‘It also means we can carry on with our equipment loans to groups including those with disabilities.

‘We are extremely grateful to the anonymous person who handed this box in.’
