Despite the event being advertised as running for two hours fifteen minutes, Gazza left the stage after just 50 minutes.

The event, which took place at the Kings Theatre, included an auction and amusing stories from Gazza's time playing for England and a range of clubs.

After the auction, which included a pair of Gordon Banks gloves and a Michael Owen England shirt, fans were told there would be a 20-minute interval before the footballing legend would appear on stage. During this period the audience were also invited to pay £100 for a selection of boots signed by Gazza.

One audience member, who did not wish to be named, said: 'Following the auction the MC announced it was time for a 20-minute interval. This announcement was met with abusive chanting by large sections of the crowd who also started calling for Gazza. Gascoigne eventually came on to the stage after the interval for just 50 minutes. A lot of the fans were left feeling that it had all been a cynical ploy to make money from the crowd.'
