THE search is on to find the local heroes of Leigh Park.

Residents are being asked to nominate adults, young people and children of all ages who contribute to life on the estate through their actions or achievements.

Up to 14 of the people nominated will be chosen to tell their stories in filmed interviews that will become part of a new Leigh Park film.

They will also be recognised on a community map that will be made in 2013.

The search has been organised as part of a two-year heritage scheme led by community crafts charity Making Space, in Bishopstoke Road, Leigh Park.

The project is being funded by Heritage Lottery.

Tracy Teasdale, community heritage worker at Making Space, said: ‘Every community has its local heroes.

‘We are asking residents to help us to celebrate life in Leigh Park in the 21st century by telling us about the people who make them feel proud to live here.’

Nomination forms can be found in public buildings across Leigh Park including the library, the community centre and The Hub.

Forms should be returned to: Making Space, 2 Bishopstoke Road, Leigh Park, Hampshire, PO9 5BN.

Forms can also be completed at makingspace.org.

The deadline is July 30. For further information call (023) 9247 2491.
