Have your say

Our motto ‘Together we Support’ says it all.

Cardiac care is our prime aim but advice and friendship are good medication too. Our members are introduced to us following heart problems.

We encourage exercise, and existing members who have experienced similar problems offer advice and support and we help people return to health after a heart event.

Some of our 200 members have belonged to our group since 1989 when it formed.

It was started by Dr Hugh Carling MBE. His aim was to carry out an 11-week rehabilitation programme and to give advice about a regular exercise programme.

We meet monthly and our members go for a countryside short walk followed by an inexpensive meal.

Throughout the year there are lots of social events which partners are also welcome to attend.

Pictured is one of our coffee and cream tea afternoons at Lee-on-the-Solent in July. It was a lovely day and our members had great fun.

There is also a meeting held on the first Thursday of each month, where a speaker talks on a specialist subject.

We encourage those who have lost their partners to remain in the group, keeping in touch and continuing friendships by attending the social events together.

We produce and circulate a monthly newsletter via email and post, which includes a record of the previous meeting, information on walks, recipes and more.

Dr Vin Patel ensures all our medical records are updated. Assessment on joining the group is carried out by Dr Patel.
