RUBBISH was dumped by the side of a road just yards away from a waste recycling centre.

A flytip of furniture, wood and oil drums was left in a lay-by at Harts Farm Way in Havant.

In a message posted to its Facebook page this afternoon, Havant Borough Council launched an appeal for information on the source of the litter.

It said: ‘We would implore anyone with information on who might have dumped this to get in touch.

‘This will cost us at least £500 to remove and dispose of, so please comment below or call our customer services team on (023) 9244 6019, quoting 662466 if you have any information.’

The incident comes after it was revealed last week costs of investigating fly-tipping in Havant have decreased by more than £34,000 to £3,153 over the past year.
