AN AEROSOL sprayed near a bin chute in a block of flats sparked a response from firefighters.

Southsea station sent two appliances to the alarm at Horatia House, in Meriden Road, Southsea.

Firefighters quickly discovered the alarm had been triggered by someone attempting to mask the smell of the bin chute.

It happened at 8.30pm last night and the crews left the building and returned to the station by 8.50pm.
