FAMILIES are encouraged to get cooking as Diabetes UK looks for the must creative and unique recipes.
The nationwide competition is looking for families come up with, quick, simple and healthy recipes that anyone can cook.
Diabetes UK will shortlist the top four recipes which are submitted, and the public can then vote for which recipe they think is best to be crowned the number one diabetic dish.
The charity wants children to get their hands dirty in the kitchen.
South-east regional manager Jill Steaton said: ‘Cooking with children is great fun and helps children learn a new skill.
‘Cooking balances teamwork, science, maths and basic nutrition into a fun activity. We hope that our competition will inspire families to get creative in the kitchen and cook up some great healthy family suppers.’
If families are struggling for ideas, Diabetes UK has provided a recipe finder to get the creative juices flowing.
The list of recipes includes a carbohydrate content counter, which makes it easy for people with diabetes to choose a healthy balanced diet.
The competition closes on July 22.
