CLOSE family members pulled together and helped raise £1,500 for a worthy cause with a concert.

Stuart Reed, 73, and his grandson Mitchell Rock, 19, play the violin and led two groups of violinists during a performance of Portsmouth Philharmonia, which they are part of, at Fareham United Reformed Church.

The event, which also saw Meon Valley Band play, collected money for The Ninewells Cancer Campaign. Stuart, who lives in Fareham, said: ‘It was great and we both enjoyed it.

‘It was a sell-out with an absolutely full house. The audience thought it was wonderful.’

As reported, Mitchell hopes to become a Royal Marines musician.
