A NEW charity group is celebrating after raising more than £9,000 in its first year.

Fareham and Portchester Marie Curie Cancer Care Fundraising Group, which meets regularly at the Vanguard pub in West Street, Fareham, announced the total of £9,053 at its recent AGM.

Wendy Savage, community fundraising manager said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement by the group, they have really worked hard to raise funds and awareness of the charity and the service we provide in the local community.

‘The events have included art exhibitions, collecting for the Great Daffodil Appeal, Castle Primary School tombola, Blooming Great tea parties and many more.’
