THE mayoress of Fareham will ride into town on the back of Harley Davidson as part of a charity fair this weekend.

About 50 of the motorbikes will ride through the town centre between midday and 12.30pm on Sunday, and a bucket collection will take place along the non-pedestrian part of West Street.

The main part of the Mayor of Fareham Dennis Steadman’s charity fair is taking place at Fareham Town FC’s ground on Cams Alders in Fareham from 11am to 4pm.

There will be stalls, as well as live music all day, a beer tent, face-painting and a bouncy castle.

Mayoress Carole Steadman said: ‘Back in the 60s I had my Lambretta – I used to take Dennis out on the back of it when we were first married – so I’m really looking forward to going out on the Harleys, it’s just my sort of thing.

‘The day should be great, there’s lots of things going one, and we’re hoping to get a good crowd. But can someone please pray for sunshine?’

The day will raise money for mayor’s nominated charity, Wessex Hearbteat.
