Miss Fernandes met representatives from #givingtuesday, charities and businesses to discuss the plans and find out she could use her role as a MP to get more people involved.

Last year’s #givingtuesday saw the day break a Guinness World Record for most online donations in 24 hours as £35m was donated.

Miss Fernandes said: ‘I am delighted to support this year’s campaign. It’s a great event and an exciting opportunity for charities and businesses to showcase the work they do all year around.

‘#Givingtuesday is a great way to give something back and get behind the charities that do so much in our communities. I urge people to donate, volunteer some time or support a local charity.’
