Sustainability day a big success with experts and pupils

A museum is going to be carrying on with its traditional fun-packed holiday events, even though it is in the middle of a massive £3.5m revamp.

The Royal Armouries has lined up plenty of festive fun for youngsters at historic Fort Nelson on Portsdown Hill, near Fareham, this Christmas.

Fort Nelson will be open every day except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The events are on Tuesday, December 21 - Festive Fun at the Fort, featuring lots of seasonal activities; Thursday, December 23: Off with their Heads, dress up as Tudor lords and ladies; Tuesday, December 28 - Commando Kids; Thursday, December 30 - Roundheads and Cavaliers.

Operations manager Mark Selwood said: 'Kids can get very over excited in both the run up to Christmas and the New Year and the fort is an ideal place for them to let off steam, get some fresh air, and enjoy stimulating events that have nothing to do with the latest "must have" presents.'

Tickets cost 2.50 for the over fives and 1 for adults.
