A FIRE that took hold in the early hours at a Sarisbury Green school is being treated as arson.

The fire service was called out to a blaze at Brookfield Community School, on Brook Lane, Sarisbury Green, at 4.23am this morning.

Fire crews from Hightown and Fareham found a bin alight outside the music department.

The firefighters managed to put out the fire out by 5.09am.

A statement from Hampshire Constabulary said it was alerted to the fire at 4.51am and the fire had been extinguished by fire crews upon their arrival.

Three windows had also been broken.

A spokesman said: ‘Police are now investigating. We will be reviewing CCTV footage in the area.’

The music department has also been damaged by smoke.
