FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a blaze that had started in the engine of a tractor.

The red tractor caught light in
Eastleigh Road, Havant, shortly after 1pm yesterday.

Fire crews from Havant went to help the driver, who had pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road.

It is believed the tractor’s engine had started to smoke after a hose split.

Crew manager Shaun Munce said the fire was almost out by the time they arrived, and they used water to stop it smoking.

The incident was over by 1.30pm.
