TWO men had a lucky escape after the car they were travelling in caught fire in the early hours of the morning.

The two middle-aged men managed to get out of the Ford Focus after a fire started under its bonnet while it was on Southampton Road, near Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove.

The incident happened at around 2am on Saturday.

Firefighters from Cosham closed the road and put out the fire by 3am.

The car was totally destroyed by the fire.
