AN INVESTIGATION is under way into the cause of a fire which completely destroyed a storage barn.
About 20 firefighters from Havant, Emsworth and Chichester tackled the blaze at a farm on Main Road, Southbourne, after an emergency call was made at about 9.30pm on Friday.
Havant crew manager Joe Forrest said: ‘The Emsworth guys were first on the scene and when we arrived it was well ablaze.
‘There were some caravans around the back which were of concern because they had gas onboard and we also found some butane cylinders. But we managed to prevent the fire from spreading to those.
‘The owner was trying to salvage his belongings, but it was too intense to get anywhere near it.’
Firefighters spent two hours at the scene and no-one was hurt.
