FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a fire on the roof of a pub in Portsmouth.

Three pumps and the aerial ladder platform are currently at The Royal in Commercial Road.

Crews were called at 4.44pm to reports of a fire on the roof.

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: ‘We’ve sent the ALP, the large ladder with a cage, to get access to the roof.

‘We’re using four breathing apparatus and one main jet, and now using two hose reels.’

Two pumps from Southsea and one from Cosham is in attendance.
