POLICE are investigating the cause of a blaze that left a first-floor flat in Southsea severely damaged.

Three crews from Southsea were called out to tackle the fire in Campbell Road shortly before 6am yesterday.

Eight firefighters fought the blaze in the four-storey semi-detached property.

Police officers were yesterday guarding the scene, where windows to the property were open, revealing the blackened interior.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Police said that no-one was hurt in the blaze.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: ‘We were called to a fire in a flat in Campbell Road, Southsea, shortly before 6am.

‘No-one was injured.
