Have your say

PROPOSALS to merge West and East Sussex fire services are set to go before a commission which will look at whether they are feasible.

Both services have begun consultations on the plans, which have been suggested could be the best way to make savings while avoiding closing stations and axing staff.

Brighton and Hove’s overview and scrutiny commission will consider and make comments on the proposal at its next meeting on September 13.

Recently Max Hood, West Sussex County Fire Officer, insisted there was a need to consult the public fully before any decision could be taken.

The 12-week public consultation will run until Thursday October 6 and both organisations are encouraging as many people as possible to take part and have their say. Feedback from the consultation will be considered before a final decision is made.
