PEOPLE are being reminded that emergency services in the area will be mocking up a major incident this weekend.

As reported, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has teamed up with British Transport Police, Hampshire Constabulary and South Central Ambulance Service, to create a scenario involving two vehicles and a motorcyclist that collide on a level crossing before a train approaches.

The event, which will be held at Fratton Train Care Depot, in Goldsmith Avenue, Southsea, takes place on Sunday between 11am and midday.

More than 50 actors will play casualties with help from make-up artists from South Downs College, Waterlooville.

A special effects team will create smoke and fire.

Nick Davies, group manager for response policy and procedure at the fire service, has helped to organise the event.

He said: ‘This will be a large-scale exercise so different agencies can work together.

‘It will be very realistic, but people need to remember it is an exercise.’
