Fire in Southsea home sees three fire engines at the scene

FIRE crews have been called to deal with a fire in a Southsea home, believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Three engines from Southsea fire station attended the property at 45 Eastern Parade, after being called at 3.15pm today.

Crews tackled the blaze using two breathing apparatus kits, as well as a jet and hose reel, before deploying a ventilator to clear smoke.

The kitchen of the building suffered minimal damage, according to firefighters.

A spokeswoman from the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘The fire is now out, and no one has been reported as being injured.

‘Crews remain at the scene.’

An ambulance attended the scene as a precaution.

The incident followed an earlier, unrelated fire at Portsmouth’s Matalan store.

It took fire crew about two hours to bring that blaze under control earlier this morning.
