FIREFIGHTERS were called following concerns a bonfire would spread to a yacht club.

Passers-by at the Meon Shore in Hill Head decided to call 999 last night after spotting the bonfire started by a group of youngsters.

They were worried the nearby Hill Head Sailing Club would be at risk.

But when Fareham crews arrived they were satisfied the fire was under control and everything was safe. They stayed for 10 minutes before leaving.
