A BLOWN engine sparked an emergency call-out on the motorway.

Firefighters were called to what was thought to be a vehicle fire.

But a van’s engine had just seized up – sparking fears of a fire.

It happened eastbound on the M27 between junction 8 for Southampton and 9 for Whiteley.

The vehicle was on the hard shoulder when High Town firefighters arrived at about 7am.
