FIREFIGHTERS were called out to rescue a baby after it got locked in its mother’s car.

The frantic mother called the emergency services just before midday yesterday.

Her three-month old child was in the new car which opens and starts using a fob, rather than a key.

As the mother got out of the car the fob, which was in her bag in the car, went off and locked her out.

Firefighters smashed the window to allow them to open the car. It happened in Soberton Road, Leigh Park.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said the baby was fine and out in 15 minutes.
