FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a heron that got trapped in a lobster pot.

A fire engine from Bognor was called to the beach off Sea Drive, Felpham, to rescue the bird, which had got itself trapped in the fishing device at the top of a 30ft pole.

A crew arrived at after being called by the RSPCA.

A ladder was used and after 45 minutes the heron was freed.
