These dramatic pictures show a car being engulfed by flames near a busy junction.

The Ford car burst into flames at the junction of Dell Piece West, Catherington Lane and Portsmouth Road in Horndean at about 11am yesterday.

A crew from Horndean went to the scene and it took them 20 minutes to put out the blaze.

A fire service spokesman said: ‘A crew from Horndean attended a car fire. They used two breathing apparatus and two hosereels to extinguish the fire, the cause of which is not known at this stage.’

No-one was thought to be hurt.
