Five-a-side football tournament for charity

FOOTBALLERS are being urged to support a charity's annual appeal.

Marie Curie is running The Great Daffodil Appeal throughout the spring to raise money for its work in giving care and support to people with terminal illnesses, and their families.

In support of the appeal, Marie Curie is joining forces with Macmillan to host a challenging five-hour five-a-side football tournament in Portsmouth.

Fareham fundraiser Graham Turner has taken the helm of the project and is encouraging teams to participate on April 23 at Goals Portsmouth in Tangier Road.

Now in its fourth year, this year’s event will take place from 10am until 3pm.

Players ‘pay’ for an hour slot, minimum £10 per each hour that you play.

A Marie Curie spokeswoman said: ‘Just £20 will give a patient the undivided attention of a trained nurse for one hour – one hour to make them feel comfortable, safe and happy.’

To get involved, contact Goals on (023) 8018 0200.
