Former Olympic athlete Iwan Thomas has spoken on how flipping burgers with Prince Harry helped him talk about his depression.
Thomas, who competed the Great South Run in Portsmouth in 2013, spoke on BBC Radio Solent about how he first opened up about his mental health to Prince Harry at a charity barbecue at Kensington Palace.
The 42-year-old said: ‘I’ve never really spoken about the fact that I went through some pretty hard times.
‘I clicked with him and it was weird to think that I started opening up to a royal, but he is such a lovely guy. I was cooking hamburgers with him and we started chatting and I forgot the cameras were there.
‘I just talked about issues that I went thought at the time when I was injured as an athlete and he was talking about his own problems.’
