HOMES and streets across Emsworth are flooded after brooks and streams burst their banks.
There is flooding along Havant Road, near the Mill Pond. Even though it was drained in the early hours of the morning water rose again quickly and it is now up to its banks again.
One of the worst affected areas is the bottom of Brook Gardens, in Emsworth, which is under a foot of water.
Emma Turner, 40, woke up at 2.15am to see water pouring down the street from the brook which runs to the west of her road.
She said: ‘It’s only for a 300m stretch but it’s very deep. All the cars parked in the road are flooded. My car has four or five inches inside it.
‘Basically we’re all stuck here. There is nowhere for the water to go, it’s not running back out to sea.
‘Apparently the Environment Agency are coming down soon, I just hope they bring sandbags because the tide is coming in again at 4pm. The drains are full but the residents have cleared them as much as possible. I’ve been out there for ages and have very cold feet!
‘I’m sure it will be okay though. It could be much worse. It’s not in the houses, just some of the garages.’
In Havant Road a huge tree was blown down but has now been cleared by the Highways Agency.
