A FRIENDLY football rivalry has helped raise £280 for charity.

The annual Whiteley Cup was held between teams from Whiteley FC and AFC Whiteley. AFC Whiteley’s A team won the cup and got to pick the charity for money donated on the day - Alzheimers Research.

Whiteley FC chairman Nick Poling said: ‘The games were all played in a very competitive but fair spirit. It’s a shame that we, as the home club, couldn’t reclaim the trophy but we’ll be back next year.’
