Four people rescued after boat catches fire in the Solent

A FAMILY had to leave their motor boat after it caught fire in the Solent..

Four people were onboard a 36ft leisure cruiser a mile off shore when the engine caught fire last night.

Luckily, they were able to get on another boat that came to the rescue.

Solent Coastguard received a call at about 8pm last night.

A spokeswoman said: ‘Fortunately there was another vessel nearby that took the crew who were all unhurt.

‘The boat was towed to shore by Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.’

The boat was towed to Old Portsmouth and a crew from Southsea fire station were waiting.

The fire was out by the time the boat got to shore and firefighters gave advice to the owners.
