A CHURCH is hosting a free lunchtime concert to generate funds for repairs to the building.

Holy Trinity Church in West Street, Fareham, is aiming to raise £500,000 to fix the church tower and restore its clock to working order.

The concert is on Tuesday, July 28, with any donations collected going to the church’s High Time Appeal.

The appeal is already halfway towards its overall total, after receiving £214,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund earlier in the year.

The concert will be hosted by a member of the Holy Trinity congregation and choir director Karen Taylor.

Miss Taylor wants the concert to raise awareness of the church and hopes the funds gathered will help turn the church into a community space.

The Rev Sally Davenport said: ‘It’s so good to see young people performing in such a professional way.

‘It is mutually beneficial as we get more people in the church.’
