FREE knitting workshops are taking place at an arts and craft centre in Leigh Park.

Led by Waterlooville-based designer Deryn Relph, people are being invited to come and challenge their ideas about knitting and crochet and try something different.

The sessions, organised by Making Space, in Bishopstoke Road, will include instruction on knitting without needles, using unconventional yarns or knitting on a massive scale.

Director of Making Space Lynne Dick said: ‘Our organisation is all about working with professional designers and offering a chance for people to take part, have fun and learn a range of craft skills along the way.

‘We are very fortunate to work with Deryn, as she is no doubt a rising star in the field of interior textile knitting.’

Deryn was the winner of the UK Handknitters Association 2010 Knitted Textile Awards and creates quirky, knitted interior products in rainbow colours.

The daytime workshops take place on October 18 and 19. To find out more call (023) 9247 2491.
