Friends from Gosport to do cycle ride and climb peak for charity

THREE friends are cycling more than 200 miles and climbing a mountain for charity.

Will Barron, Charles Faulkner and Tom Brading left Fareham on Thursday morning to travel to Cardiff for the start of their challenge.

The trio will cycle from Cardiff to Mount Snowdon, climb the 1,085m peak before cycling back to Cardiff.

Will, from Gosport, said: ‘Initially, we started out wanting to go on holiday to Wales for a few days.

‘The idea was to do a series of walks and cycles and really just enjoy the country.

‘But it ended up growing into the challenge and we are now raising money for Epilepsy Research UK.’

The friends picked that charity as Charles’ sister Maddison suffers from epilepsy.

Will, 20, added: ‘This is the first time any of us have tried something like this.

‘Before we set out, we were feeling excited but also a little nervous. We know it is going to be tough but we really want to try and raise as much cash as possible.’

The challenge will take about eight days with the 125-mile cycle journeys being split into around three days each.

The friends will have a rest day after climbing Mount Snowdon before cycling the 125-mile route back to Cardiff.

They are hoping to raise £1,000 and have so far reached £500.

To help boost funds, they will be doing a head shave and holding an auction when they return.
