Fun guided cycling trek will takers riders of all ages from Portsea to Langstone Harbour

PEOPLE of all ages have been invited to get on their bikes for the latest leg of a summer cycling initiative.

Sky Ride’s Langstone Harbour Explorer is a free 15-mile guided ride which will take participants from Portsea Island to Langstone Harbour, via several of the city’s natural landmarks.

The ride is suitable for anyone over the age of eight, and sets off from Portsmouth Watersports Centre on Eastern Road at 10am on Sunday.

Riders will pass through Farlington Marshes and Havant Park before continuing along the Billy Trail – a disused rail line between Havant and Hayling Island.

Councillor Jim Fleming, cabinet member for traffic and transportation, says that he is ‘passionate’ about getting more people cycling in the city.

He said: ‘Our partnership with British Cycling continues this year and I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for a place on one of the free Sky Ride Local guided rides this summer.’
