Fundraiser, 10, beats target for charity

AN AUTISTIC schoolboy has smashed his £999 fundraising target for The Fire Fighters Charity after embarking on an epic challenge.

Andrew Impey, 10, vowed to visit all 2,500 fire stations in the UK and Ireland and has already ticked off 650 of them.

He first set his target at £100 for attempting this mammoth quest but this quickly went up to £250 and then £500.

After this he set a goal of £999 because of the number’s relevance to the fire service and has now put the figure at £1,943 – the year the charity was founded.

Andrew, from Cosham, said: ‘I’m so chuffed I’m helping firefighters. I love everything about the fire service – my favourite bit is when they let me get in the fire engine.’

He has transformed his room into a station with the kit, equipment and trinkets he has been given by firefighters, and that his parents have bought.

The schoolboy – also known as Andrew Dane – has documented his travels on social media.
