GOSPORT Discovery Centre has been given a grant to fund a series of workshops for residents.

Hampshire County Council has awarded £7,000 to the centre out of a £100,000 fund for projects in the area.

The workshops will follow the themes of business, health and literacy.

They will be open to all Gosport residents and are expected to take place this year.

The workshops are aimed at educating people on health issues and boosting reading skills among schoolchildren.

A five-week course will also help residents who want to start their own business.
