A man who caused £1,000 worth of damage to a gambling machine at a betting shop has been told to pay compensation.

Sean Sumner was at the Bet Fred shop in London Road, North End, when he damaged the machine.

Sumner, of Haslemere Road, Southsea, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court.

The 39-year-old, who has a previous conviction for shop lifting, was told to pay 150 in compensation and 50 in court costs.
