A SUSPECTED arson attack has destroyed a garage and its contents in Cosham.

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze in Lonsdale Avenue at 4.15am this morning.

They found the garage, which was in a block of garages at the end of the owner’s garden, was well ablaze.

The fire service sent three fire engines to the scene - two from Cosham and one from Havant.

The owner had been inside his house asleep at the time.

Everything in the garage, mainly used for domestic storage, was destroyed.

Police and the fire service are investigating the cause of the fire, as they suspect it may have been started deliberately.

The fire was put out by 5.30am, no other garages were damaged in the blaze.
