AN event that raises money for good causes has been hailed the most successful yet.

A gardens open day gave people the chance to walk around six gardens featured in Fareham in Bloom and was held on July 28.

The occasion, in its ninth year, raises £2,920.74 for local and horticultural-based charities.

The figure was an increase of £331.83 from the year before.

Councillor Connie Hockley, executive member for leisure and community, said: ‘We’re always so impressed by the Fareham in Bloom entries each year, so I am delighted that so many people went along to see these beautiful gardens for themselves.’
