TO celebrate the start of summer, a gardening workshop is being launched.

Fareham in Bloom, supported by Fareham Borough Council, marks the launch of the summer season with a free gardening workshop and flowering fuchsia plant.

A series will take place in the greenhouse at St Margaret’s Nurseries in St Margaret’s Lane, in Titchfield, today.

They aims to help gardeners create the perfect hanging basket or container to put on show this summer.

Several sessions will take place between 10am and 1pm.

The first 60 people will receive the fuchsia plant and a 20 per cent discount voucher for the nursery.

Paul Doran, director of environmental services at the council, said: ‘These free sessions are a “must do” for anyone with an interest in gardening.

‘It is also a perfect opportunity for beginners to pick up tips and creative ideas from gardening experts.

‘I look forward to seeing an array of blooming baskets around the borough this year.’
