RESIDENTS wishing to take up roles in the ambitious Fratton Big Local project have until midday tomorrow to put in their applications.

As reported yesterday, a community development worker and an administrator are being sought to help plan how £100,000 will be spent in the Portsmouth area this year.

It’s part of the Fratton Big Local project, led by Fratton Big Local Partnership, which has been given £1m in the form of a lottery grant to use in the next decade.

Linda Johnson, of Fratton Big Local, said this was a fantastic opportunity for people who want to make a difference. It’s a chance to shape the future of Fratton and contribute to the community.

‘It’s a very exciting time to get on board. There is so much negativity about Fratton at the moment, and this is a chance to do something positive.

‘We are looking to make use of everything, from shops to green spaces.’

Applications are being handled by Community Action Hampshire, which has been tasked with employing staff for the project and handling the first pot of money safely.
